Open Triples Invitation

This year the Open Triples Invitation was held on Saturday 11th June in glorious weather.
Thanks to the hard work of many members and volunteers, the club was ready to host the competition.
A licensed bar was available for refreshments and a lovely lunch and teas were provided for all.
UDBC hosted 18 teams from Aberdeenshire, Moray and Aberdeen, and we entered two of our own teams to compete, not just with each other, but also the heat for the honour of lifting the trophy.

The teams competed in four groups in a round-robin format. The group winners were:
Group A
Group B
Group C
Group D
Drumoak
Millbank
Aberlour
Newmachar
Next – the semi-finals. These were strongly contested between Millbank and Newmachar and Aberlour and Drumoak.
Millbank and Aberlour won their matches and prepared to meet eat other in the final, with Newmachar and Drumoak contesting third and fourth places.
In the end Millbank overcame Aberlour with Newmachar taking third place and Drumoak fourth.
Well done to the four teams for securing places in the finals and all the other teams for the way the matches were played with a competitive spirit liberally laced with fun and good humour.
A massive thank you must go to those people in the club and the volunteers who made the tournament possible by preparing the green, organising the matches, preparing and serving the lunches and teas and running the bar.
Thank you to those selling raffle tickets and the whisky squares and for everyone who generously donated raffle prizes and bought tickets.
