Teachers' Day
As part of our community involvement, the staff of Alford Academy spent the day with us.
Calum McKay, Chairman of the Health and Wellbeing Committee, made these comments:
The Alford Academy Health and Wellbeing bowling event took place on the 10th May 2025.
Organised by one of our Committee Members, who is also the President of Upper Donside Bowling Club, it was a fantastic success, bringing together staff from across departments for an afternoon of laughter, friendly competition and relaxation.
The sun shone brightly over the green, setting the perfect scene for a day outdoors. Teams formed quickly, with playful banter and light-hearted rivalry adding to the fun.
Many staff members, some trying bowling for the first time, embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Cheers and applause echoed across the lawn as some bowls rolled close to the Jack and unexpected victories sparked joyful celebrations.
The event encouraged camaraderie with colleagues bonding over shared moments and cheering each other on.
A BBQ added to the atmosphere and the casual setting allowed everyone to unwind and connect beyond the usual work environment. Smiles were abundant and the sense of community was palpable.
Overall, the bowling event was a refreshing break from routine, leaving staff feeling relaxed, energised and more connected.
Next year’s event has already been organised by the Health and Wellbeing Committee after the success of this year’s event.
